Fifteen (15) years at the service of microfinance, the FIMF has become over the years a key player in the sector in strengthening the intervention capacities of DFIs.

Created by Decree No. 2005-878 of 03 October 2005, the FIMF aims to contribute to the development of microfinance.

It has created/maintained more than 5000 (five thousand) jobs, in the last three years, five hundred and forty (540) million FCFA have been injected into the refinancing.

In line with sectoral and national policies to strengthen the financial and social inclusion of vulnerable groups, the FIMF has trained one hundred andforty-four (444) elected officials and technical staff, provided nineteen (19) training modules and supported forty-five (45) microfinance institutions.

A large endowment of computer equipment (computers and printers) has been handed over to the Decentralized Financial Systems (DFS), thirteen (13) DFSs are supported in the digitization of their services.

In the face of the global health crisis, the FIMF has played its role as a defender of vulnerable groups through DFS with the Microfinance Social and Solidarity Economy Sector Support Programme (PASMESS) initiated by the Ministry of Microfinance and Social and Solidarity Economy as part of the Economic and Social Resilience Programme (PRES).

An envelope of one billion (1,000,000,000) CFA francs has been dedicated to the program, twenty-two (22) isolated DFS have benefited from funding for a total amount of five hundred and five million CFA francs (505,000,000) CFA francs.

Grants amounting to five hundred million (500,000,000) have been allocated to SSE actors to revive their activities.

In terms of prospects, the FIMF is working on new projects:

DFS refinancing

  • Support for non-Article 44 DFS wishing to engage in Islamic microfinance in partnership with the IDB through the National Islamic Microfinance Development Program (PROMISE) is planned from 2021.
  • The implementation with technical and financial partners of the Local Resources Development Project (PROVAREL) estimated at 7 billion CFA francs.

Institutional and technical support

  • The development of digital finance within microfinance institutions (MFIs)
  • Capacity building of DFIs on innovative sectors (green microfinance, MFI)

Sharing and capitalization

  • The organization of awareness-raising campaigns at the national level.
